Unconnected dreams
Colours of the rainbow
In shards scattered
Upon the glass of the window broken in the balcony
I collect them in dreams—
The colours, the shards
But Alas!
You occupy the blood—
Running in pursuit of you
To recollect you in the shards
To see you in the rainbow
Each colour makes your picture
You’re drawn in my imagination
In scarlet ink, amber, azure and many more.
______Muhammad Shahab.
Remember the stars
we counted for us;
one by one.
You wanted to have them—
desperate we were.
The tumbler you broke,
I mended it.
You ran after it
the bus you caught
riding homewards.
Stretched on a berth,
looking at each other in love,
lost between our gaze.
The world blurred around us
only me and you
going homewards. _____Muhammad Shahab.
Turning back from the verge of eternity.
It was close but good luck
Favours almost the one like me.
I could see them;
Some, burning in wild flames,
Others, bathing in mild sun.
bodies of wool;
Birds never glimpsed in fancies
Flying beside the glass pool—
And I returned.
_____Muhammad Shahab.
You have made me sing
the melodies of love.
When I see you,
when you talk;
they’re songs of love.
To me it’s all.
I gave you my entire life,
it’s yours
I’m yours.
Will you be mine?
We’ll sing together
songs never sung.
Lost in each other
Love, love!
When you get here,
my world is unparalleled,
I’m perfect
I see in your eyes
blue as the Atlantic;
waves of ice
dancing dolphins.
There’re oceans, deep;
let me take a voyage
to your world.
Love, love!
_____Muhammad Shahab.
These rainy days;
the silt beside the beach
left by floods of the endless ocean,
adoring and beseeching.
I mourn the death—
the death of your love
mumbling away in breezes
the lost you—
like me, abandoned in these hours.
Once the beach had a spring—
it too, has become only a sediment;
no more colour and charm,
shattered.
Those feelings, too, depart—
slowly I’m becoming the one,
unknown and forgotten.
_____Muhammad Shahab.
A sudden thought diverges my mind.
It’s a thought noble and mighty.
It’s love;
For love is mighty.
Though some will mock it.
The one who has loved, knows;
The other quivers like an aspen leaf.
