A Sudden Thought

A sudden thought diverges my mind.
It’s a thought noble and mighty.
It’s love;
For love is mighty.
Though some will mock it.
The one who has loved, knows;
The other quivers like an aspen leaf.

  1. Whatever wind blows while they and I have leaves / We cannot other than an aspen be / That ceaselessly, unreasonably grieves, / Or so men think who like a different tree.” (Edward Thomas, “Aspens”)
